Boot camp this week was brutal! Temp’s well below freezing made the ground bitter cold when doing push-ups and sit up’s and the leaves were nice and frozen – AKA slick earthy deposits for slipping on. Despite the treachery out there, I managed perfect attendance while Charles was in California this week. I am truly looking forward to having him in town next week so he join me in the wee hours and bitter cold! Despite the chill, we are still loving the challenge of camp, and the other campers keep us coming back for more. Last weekend, the instructors threw a holiday party for all of the campers. It was wonderful to see everyone all dressed up, meet their families we have heard about for the last 4 months, and have a conversation with them while enjoying a cocktail rather than a round of flutter kicks (who am I kidding, no one can talk during flutter kicks).
In order to have some fun with fitness, we decided to take it out for a spin during today’s Ugly Sweater 5k with Miller, Jenny and Putter. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that the rain will let up from 10:30-12:00 so we can run the race and enjoy the aftermath while staying mostly dry. Its not looking good, but we have a few hours. Our goal is to run the 3.13 miles in 27 minutes, making for just under 9 min miles. We have never run a 5k at that pace before, but with race-adrenaline we are hopeful we will achieve a new PR!
With Christmas only a handful of days away, we are ready for the holiday! We have trimmed the tree with care, purchased and wrapped gifts for all of those special someones, and are committed to spreading cheer wherever we go this holiday season. With two Holiday parties under our belts and several more to go, we are bringing little bits of joy with us in the form of individual servings holiday breads. I bought 4 oz mason jars and divided batter of homemade gingerbread and cranberry pecan bread into the jars. From there, baked, wrapped in a ribbon, and tagged with some cheer. I was so impressed with how they turned out, I had Charles take some pictures. It’s nice to be able to share the joy of cooking with our friends and family during this time of year. I hope my 2014 New Years resolution proves to be as successful as 203’s commitment to cook more!
Stay warm and dry and have a wonderful December weekend!
